There are many different types of books which are divided into genres. A genre is a category of literature characterized by typical patterns or elements. They are classified according to the elements. Genres allow the reader to establish an understanding of the books being read and take them on a ride they are sure to enjoy.

Throughout this lesson the students will:

  • define and provide examples of genres of literature and fiction;
  • identify different types of genres;
  • create and identify a specific genre.
