Figurative language is language that uses words or expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation (actual words used). In this lesson, students will learn how figurative language determines the meaning and tone of the text.
During the lesson, the student will be able to:
- determine how the author’s use of words and phrases controls the meaning/tone of the text;
- explain how the author’s use of figurative language further illustrates/expands the tone and meaning of the text;
- create a poem using figurative language.
