Figurative language helps us express our ideas in more imaginative ways expanding our descriptions for a better understanding. In this lesson we will explore different kinds of figures of speech and how we can apply them to our writing and oral expression.
Throughout this lesson, the student will be able to:
- determine the figurative meaning of words and phrases in a poem;
- analyze how a poem’s structure contributes to its meaning;
- recognize the distinguishing features of poetry;
- interpret figures of speech.
