Research reports are texts that are created with a specific subject in mind, using the information found through an investigative process, and shared with our peers in an accessible way. The research project’s subject, often assigned by a teacher, must then be evaluated, broken down into a thesis statement with supporting arguments, and sustained by different reliable sources. After doing this, an outline using different types of paragraphs helps create an essay about the subject.

Throughout this lesson, the student will be able to:

  • determine the purpose and audience his/her writing will address;
  • express opinion through writing.
