Understanding cause and effect relationships is a skill that goes beyond literature. The interaction of elements, be they literary or scientific, occurs in every field of study. Knowing how to identify the cause, the consequences of these actions, and comprehending how these related are important life skills that go beyond the classroom.
During the lesson, the student will be able to:
- explain the relationships between two of more individuals, events, ideas, or concepts in an informational text;
- identify transition words (e.g., therefore, because, as a result) to find information about relationships or interactions between pieces of informational text;
- use specific information from the text to support his/her explanation of the relationships and interactions between two or more individuals, events, ideas, or concepts in historical, scientific, or technical text.
