Using appropriate vocabulary is connected to both effective reading and writing skills, and these skills, in turn, are necessary for doing well in academic as well as professional settings. In this lesson, students will acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and content-specific words and phrases, including those that signal contrast, addition, and other logical relationships (e.g., however, although, nevertheless, similarly, moreover, in addition).
During the lesson, the student will be able to:
- write using specific words and phrases:
- use correctly signal words of comparison, addition and other relationships;
- use appropriate general academic and specific words and phrases in writing.
