This lesson will help the student demonstrate an understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and differences in word meanings to develop texts that will engage readers. Figurative language makes reading more interesting. Knowing the relationships and differences between words helps the reader analyze and understand the information better.
During the lesson, the student will be able to:
- identify figurative language in texts;
- determine the meaning of words and phrases using figurative language;
- analyze the use of figurative language in poetry;
- construct a poem using figurative language.
