Reading About Phenomena


5.R.1 Use in depth critical reading of a variety of relevant texts, genres, and viewing of multimedia to describe, explain and evaluate, ideas phenomena, processes and cultural identity and relationship referring to details in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text. Recognize fact vs. opinion and fiction vs. non-fiction as well as facts supporting details from the text.

When reading critically, we must keep an eye out for certain elements that will help us understand a text better. Knowing how to decipher a text’s idea, topic, and details will help us academically, personally, and professionally.
