This lesson focuses on how to discover an author’s purpose. Students will learn how to identify the differences among writing for entertainment, informative, and persuasive purposes. Students will also learn how to evaluate a written piece by studying the rhetorical devices and strategies that an author used.
During the lesson, the student will be able to:
- identify the use of logos, ethos, and pathos;
- determine the author’s purpose in a text;
- analyze an author’s use of rhetorical devices.
