11.R.3L This lesson is designed to introduce and explain literary devices at work throughout literature such as characterization and its importance in relevance to the plot, setting, theme, the motivations of protagonists, antagonists, and how characterization affects the plot, conflict, and resolution of a story.


Analyze how complex characters (e.g., those with multiple or conflicting motivations) develop over the course of
a text, interact with other characters, and advance the plot or develop the theme. This lesson’s content is of high educational quality.
